My mission is to create just and inclusive communities where people can thrive and belong.
As a former nonprofit executive, I know what it takes to help teams manage change, navigate conflict, and cultivate positive culture and climate. As a certified mediator, conflict coach, restorative justice practitioner, and community dialogue facilitator, I have worked with hundreds of workplace and community groups to address challenging situations, repair harm, and restore relationships.
My previous executive roles include President & CEO at the Center for Dispute Settlement, a community dispute resolution center serving the eight-county Rochester and Finger Lakes region in New York State, and Executive Director at Partners in Restorative Initiatives, a nonprofit providing restorative practices trainings to schools, courts, and communities.
I am currently the Board President of the New York State Dispute Resolution Association, contributing to the evolution of conflict resolution policy and practice. I have served on numerous state and regional coalitions, including Justice for All, the Family Justice Initiative, and RESTORE New York.
My teaching experience includes undergraduate and graduate level courses at the University of Rochester, Nazareth University, and Monroe Community College, covering topics in conflict resolution, interpersonal communication, and education and human development. I am a statewide anti-bias trainer and experienced leader in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB), trauma-informed care, and accessibility initiatives. I also volunteer as a Circle keeper with Hidden Water, supporting restorative responses in emotionally complex and high-stakes contexts.
I am an award-winning author and researcher, featured in both popular and academic publications including Braver Collective, Discourse Processes, Early Childhood Research Quarterly, and Mentoring and Tutoring: Partnership in Learning. I have presented at the International Institute for Restorative Practices World Conference, U.S. Child Care Policy Research Consortium, American Bar Association’s Dispute Resolution Conference, American Educational Research Association Conference, New York State Dispute Resolution Association Conference, and numerous local forums.
I hold a Ph.D. in Education and Human Development from the University of Rochester, a B.S. in Cognitive Science from the University of California at Berkeley, and a Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership from St. John Fisher University.
